January 3rd - Goblet of Fire was named the highest-earning film internationally for 2005. It earned $850m.


January 5th - J.K. Rowling updated her site for the first time in 2006 with some "New Year's Writing Resolutions."


January 6th - Half-Blood Prince was announced the best-selling book of 2005 with sales tallying $7.02m - astonishing seeing as the book was released in July, half-way through the year.


January 9th - The IMAX version of Goblet of Fire was revealed to be the highest-grossing IMAX film ever.


January 10th - Jo gives one of her most in-depth interviews ever with Tatler Magazine.


January 11th - It is announced the Goblet of Fire DVD will be available on March 7th.


January 14th - Thousands attend open audition for Luna Lovegood.


January 18th - It is announced that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released in paperback on July 25th.


January 19th - Aaron Lambert, the Half-Blood Prince thief, is sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail.


January 22nd - Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) will reprise his role in Order of the Phoenix.


January 26th - J.K. Rowling attends Romanian press conference.


January 27th - First script reading of Order of the Phoenix takes place in London.


January 28th - Katie Leung (Cho Chang) will return for Order of the Phoenix.


January 28th - J.K. Rowling donates Black Family Tree to Book Aid auction.


January 29th - Goblet of Fire is announced as the eighth-highest grossing film of all time.


January 30th - George Harris is cast as Kingsley Shacklebolt and Robbie Jarvis is cast as young James Potter in Order of the Phoenix.


January 31st - J.K. Rowling releases her list of the top 10 books for children.


February 2nd - The actors playing the roles of Luna, Tonks, Umbridge and Bellatrix in OOTP are announced.


February 4th - OOTP casting rumours for the roles of Young Lily, Young James and Grawp circulate. They are later confirmed.


February 7th - Filming begins on the OOTP film.


February 7th - There is talk that Gary Oldman will not be in the fifth Harry Potter movie, however Warner Brothers quickly debunks this rumour.


February 9th - It is rumoured that the fifth movie will contain the scene where Harry saves Dudley from the Dementors, and the Wizengamot trial will also be included.


February 10th - More Order of the Phoenix cast news - the actors playing roles including Amelia Bones, Dawlish, Young Lily and Young Wormtail are revealed.


February 13th - Italian newspaper La Repubblica publishes a photograph of JK Rowling's Black Family Tree, which was up for auction.


February 17th - First Interview with new Luna Lovegood actress, Evanna Lynch.


February 19th - Rupert Grint attends the BAFTAs to represent the cast and crew of the GOF movie, which was nominated for three awards.


February 20th - Julie Walters attended the Irish screening of Driving Lessons and talked briefly about why she was cut from the fourth Harry Potter film.


February 21st - New information is revealed about the Black Family Tree.


February 21st - Jo answers the question, "What happens to a secret when the Secret-Keeper dies?" on her FAQ poll.


February 22nd - Dan Radcliffe's mother buys, on his behalf, JKR's hand-written Black Family Tree for £30,000.


February 23rd - Harry Potter y el Misterio del Príncipe (HBP in Spanish) was released.


February 25th - The fourth Harry Potter movie is fifth highest-grossing film outside North America.


February 26th - We find out that Evanna Lynch is a fellow MuggleNetter.


February 28th - JKR comments on the progress of Book 7 on her website.


March 1st - Emma Watson sends out a new newsletter.


March 7th - Goblet of Fire DVD released in US and Canada.


March 8th - In its first day, the Goblet of Fire DVD sold a staggering 5 million copies.


March 9th - JK Rowling makes major updates to her site.


March 10th - Forbes published their list of the world's richest people, and ranked JK Rowling at #746 with an estimated net worth of $1 billion!


March 14th - New Order of the Phoenix filming information.


March 18th - JK Rowling hosted masquerade ball as a fundraiser for MS.


March 21st - New OOTP filming information.


March 27th - GOF becomes fastest selling DVD ever in the UK. It was estimated that, in the first six days after its release, three copies were sold every second.


March 29th - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was named book of the year at the British Book Awards ceremony. JK Rowling was in attendance.


April 4th - JK Rowling updates her site, saying that Book 7 going well and Evanna is "perfect" as Luna.


April 5th - Warner Bros. announces that Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix will hit theaters on July 13, 2007.


April 7th - First WOMBAT results are released.


April 10th - A newspaper criticises Jo's article on her website about our skinny-obsessed world.


April 12th - Warner Bros. charges Bajaj with copyright violation.


April 18th - GOF grosses $20m in IMAX.

August 1st - J.K. Rowling begins her first trip to the United States in over six years by holding a press conference in New York City with Stephen King and John Irving prior to the first night of Harry, Carrie and Garp.


August 2nd - Complete coverage of the second night of Harry, Carrie and Garp, including J.K. Rowling's definitive response that "Dumbledore is dead!"


August 2nd - The Leaky Mug holds its second live podcast in New York City at the Barnes and Noble in Union Square.


August 4th - Warner Bros. confirms the release date of the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to be November 21st, 2008.


August 13th - Daniel Radcliffe says he "will bare it all" when he assumes the role of Alan Strang, in London's West End play Equus.


August 14th - We get our first look at Natalia Tena as everyone's favorite metamorphagus, Nymphadora Tonks.


August 24th - A new interview with Rupert Grint in which he states he wants to continue playing Ron through the seventh film.


August 24th - Jessica Stevenson is cast in the fifth film as Mafalda Hopkirk, who works in the Improper Use of Magic Office.


August 26th - "The Weasley is Our King" storyline is cut from Order of the Phoenix.


September 4th - Voldemort voted "Baddest Baddie" in Big Bad Read, an online Bloomsbury poll to find the UK's favorite literary villain from a children's book.


September 11th - JKR debunks rumor that she has written 750 pages of Book 7.


September 13th - JKR updates her site with the famous NAQ: Why did Dumbledore have James' invisibility cloak at the time of his death?


September 19th - Child magazine says J.K. Rowling is one of 20 who has changed childhood in America forever.


September 24th - Emma Watson states she is unsure about future acting career.


September 25th - Warner Bros. releases the first set of high-res photos from the fifth film, including our first glimpse of Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood.


September 29th - JKR updates her site with the second round of WOMBATs and discusses the "honor" of Harry Potter topping the most-banned books list.


September 29th - The Leaky Mug holds its fourth live podcast, this time from Los Angeles, California.


October 2nd - MuggleCast wins the People's Choice Award at the 2006 Podcast Awards.


October 3rd - The American Library Association reports the Harry Potter series is voted as favorite banned book.


October 4th - Laura Mallory appeals again to the Gwinnett County School Board.


October 6th - The second round of WOMBAT results are delivered.


October 6th - Dobby is cut from Order of the Phoenix.


October 9th - Portuguese translator Isabella Nunes confirms the identity of R.A.B.


October 10th - Commemorative J.K. Rowling plaque installed outside Edinburgh cafe where she wrote most of first Potter novel.


October 10th - It is announced that the Order of the Phoenix trailer will be released November 17th.


October 14th - New technology created by Image Metrics to be used for Grawp in fifth film.


October 16th - Terry Gilliam unwilling to direct a Potter film.


October 17th - J.K. Rowling says she did not sign a letter of intent for a Harry Potter-themed park.


October 20th - Scientists create a real invisibility cloak.


October 25th - MuggleShop debuts.

October 29th - Yates estimates running time of fifth film.


October 31st - J.K. Rowling updates site saying she has a third title to choose from for Book 7.

November 15th - The first OOTP promotional poster is released.


November 17th - The trailer for Order of the Phoenix debuts before Happy Feet.


November 20th - The OOTP trailer becomes available online.


November 21st - HBO airs almost 4 minutes of footage from OOTP.


November 17th - Electronic Arts announces the OOTP video game.


November 28th - JK Rowling wins her first literary award in over five years from her home country. She didn't attend the ceremony but passed along the message that book 7 is coming along nicely.


December 2nd - ABC Family airs 13 new clips from Order of the Phoenix during their broadcast of SS and COS.


December 14th - The Georgia Board of Education rejects Laura Mallory's appeal in a unanimous decision to keep the Harry Potter books on library shelves.


December 19th - JK Rowling updates her diary to say that she dreamed she was Harry Potter. She also says she is writing scenes that have been planned for a dozen years.


December 21st - The 'Do Not Disturb' sign is removed on JK Rowling's site.


December 21st - The title of the final book is released: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
