MELODY
Age 20 – Sweden

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?

I’ve been a Harry Potter fan basically for as long as I can remember. I read SS when I was ten when it had been translated into Swedish and I saw the the film not long after that. I think it really hit me that I was such a huge fan when my class went to see it (the second time for me) and we were all discussing it on the train back. I found myself correcting everybody and basically leading the discussion. After that my class saw me as something of a Harry Potter expert and it has evolved since then. I started reading the books in English around the time OoTP came out and I check MuggleNet everyday to see if anything new has happened. I’ve loved the books and films for over ten years and they’ll always have a special place in my heart.

It has been over three years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now, as you did then?

Yes and no. I’ve had more time to process and accept what happened which makes me feel calmer. When DH first came out I read it in about a day and became quite overwhelmed by everything. Now I’ve come to terms with what happened and I’m in awe of JKR’s world and I have such respect for the choices she made. The only thing that I’m still having trouble with is Snape’s death, but I’ll forgive her in time. 🙂

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was screened in Chicago to a very lucky audience, including some MuggleNet staff members! If you read the reviews, what did you think? If you didn’t read them, why not?

I didn’t read the reviews (for once!) because I have buried myself in clips, reviews, trailers etc. from the previous films and I found that if I did it too much, it kind ruined going to see the film. So this time around I’m being a bit more careful because I want to experience the whole film without too much prior information. It doesn’t stop me from craving to see all the promotional pictures, though!

The Deathly Hallows movie split was announced this month via Entertainment Weekly. If you read the spoiler, what do you think? Where would YOU split the movie?

I actually did read where they’re going to split the film, because the suspense was killing me. I think the split would’ve been difficult to make almost anywhere, because however they did it, the audience would still want to see the rest. But what they chose seems like a good place to leave off – it’ll certainly make the audience want to see part 2. If I were to choose where the film would be split, I would probably choose when the trio arrives in Hogsmeade because I think it would make a beautiful scene.

WWoHP had it’s 1,000,000th visitor this month – already! Have you visited the park, or have plans to? What were/are you most excited to see/visit?

I have not visited the park because I live so for away, and money is obviously an issue. But I’m going to! The whole park seems fantastic and I want to see everything. The Forbidden Journey is probably one of the things I want to experience the most, but also eating the food, visiting Ollivander’s and just taking it all in. I can’t wait to go!

OMG! Emma cut her hair off! Love it, or dislike it?

I like Emma’s hair! I think it’s brave of her to change her looks so drastically and I also think she deserves to do what she wants with it after having basically the same hairdo for so many years.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

First of all I want to thank MuggleNet for doing such a good job with the site and for bringing people together the way they do. Thanks to you I think the Potter fans will continue to debate, analyse and continue to love it for many years to come. I also want to thank Jo for creating this world and for giving me the company of Harry and the others for all these years. Long live the Harry Potter fans!
