Fan Focus: Morgan – November 7, 2010

21-year-old Morgan from the United States

First off, how did you become a Harry Potter fan?

I became a Harry Potter fan in 2000. I was in the fifth grade and my teacher would read to us every day. The day she started reading Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone, I enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and ordered the book and had finished it before the rest of the class. When Harry passed out after his duel with Voldemort/ Professor Quirrel, everyone looked at me, curious to know what happened.

It has been over three years since Deathly Hallows came out and we found out how the series ended. Do you have the same reaction to the ending now as you did then?

I was very pleased with the ending. When the book finally came out, I was very excited but upset that I would not have any new books to look forward to. It was a relief to have such a powerful ending with a positive message. Each time I re-read the Deathly Hallows I find new information that adds to my appreciation of the novel. The message is complex, everlasting and can be applied to nearly everyones life. It shows a positive and realistic ending to a problem of good versus evil.

The Deathly Hallows split was announced last month. If you read the spoiler, what do you think? Where would YOU split the movie?

I have not read the spoiler. I don’t want to know anything about the movie prior to going in. I want to compare and make my own opinion. I believe a good place for the movie to split would be when Ron leaves Harry and Hermione at the camp. It would be a good cliffhanger and draw people into wanting to see part 2.

Did you watch the Deathly Hallows trailer? If so, thoughts? If not, why not?

I have seen the trailer multiple times. Each time I get more excited to see the movie. The movie looks very good and I am mostly looking forward to the fight scenes. I am a little concerned that they will have to explain some things they left out in the other movies but appreciate and understand that it is one of the main reasons for the split.

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is now less than two weeks away! How are you feeling, knowing that this movie marks the beginning of the end?

I’m feeling pretty positive about the final movies. It’s not exactly the same as when the final book came out. Eventually, I will be able to watch all the movies or read the books whenever I please and that is always a positive thought.

Are you doing anything fun: having a party, dressing up, etc., for the big premiere of Part 1?

I am currently working out plans to see the premiere with my childhood best friend Kelly. Her and I are bonded eternally through our love of Harry Potter and how it brought us together.

Is there a particular scene that you are looking forward to the most? One that you are dreading?

I’m looking forward to the entire movie, but I would have to say that I am most looking forward to the Seven Potters Scene. I believe it will be interesting to see how much detail they pay attention to and watch the in-air fight between Dumbledore’s Army and the Death Eaters. I am dreading seeing any of the death scenes for the positive characters. I believe they will be well done, but very moving and dramatic.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I would just like to say thank you and give all the Mugglenet workers a big thumbs up. All of you are doing a great job and keep us fans extensively informed. I also have to shout out to Kelly for all our years of Harry Potter love and the dreams we had that Harry Potter was real. Hogwarts and the Wizarding World are real in our minds and will continue to bond us all. Thank you so much and keep up the Harry Potter love!
