The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 DVD has been available for close to a week now and sales have been very good. From Reuters:
Not only did “Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Part 1″ debut at No. 1 on Nielsen Videoscan’s chart for the week ended April 17, but the six previous films also re-emerged in the top 20, the result of an aggressive ad campaign.
Warner Bros. took out primetime television ads emphasizing that the new movie was unavailable at kiosks and Netflix. Also impressive: about 70 percent of Potter catalog sales were of the Blu-ray format vs. 46 percent for Deathly Hallows.
