“Deathly Hallows – Part 2” becomes top grossing US movie of 2011

With $348 million grossed at the domestic box office, Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is now the top grossing film of 2011 here in the United States. It recently passed Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which has made $345 million to date.

Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman, had this to say:

“In a crowded and very competitive summer, it is a tribute to both the film and the people behind it that moviegoers are still turning out to enjoy it – whether for the first time or for a repeat viewing.”

Of course, the film remains No. 3 all-time worldwide, currently with $1.150 billion. According to Warner Bros. president of international distribution, Vernoica Kwan-Rubinek:

“The filmmakers and cast, who dedicated their talents to the success of these films for over a decade, share in this piece of cinema history. We congratulate and thank them all.”
