Fandom videos spotlight: ’99 seconds’ to ‘Save Ginny Weasley’

Throughout the years, Harry Potter’s fans have expressed their passion for the series in many diverse and creative ways. Yet there may not be anything… catchier… than writing your own tune about it. This week’s fandom videos segment showcases two different types of music.

Our first video is a medley – composed and performed by YouTube artist Jon Cozart or “Paint” – called “Harry Potter in 99 Seconds.” The only thing more stunning than the video (of the same guy, duplicated, a capella performing the story of the entire series separated by themes from the different years on film) is how many covers and response videos it has had, from various members of the web.

And then, there is that special place in every Potter fan’s heart for Wizard Rock. During a 2007 tour of Liverpool, England, musical group Harry and the Potters performed their hit “Save Ginny Weasley” and prefaced it with a strong message of peace and community.

Thanks to Carlie B. for suggesting this week’s featured video. See you next week!
