Hogwarts gingerbread house brings smiles to children’s hospital

The kids of Utah Valley Medical Center were in for a very special Halloween treat this past weekend when they were acquainted with a large and intricate model of Hogwarts school… in gingerbread form.

For the last five years, Utah based baker Socorro Meredith has been making larger than life confectionary pieces for the children and families at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. This year, she decided to take on the iconic image of Hogwarts Castle.

The cake, apart from some structural support, is mostly edible. It is made of chocolate cake, rice krispie treats, buttercream frosting & fondant. After over two weeks and over one hundred fifty hours of work, it looks like one impressive feat.

“My favorite part is thinking about the kids’ reactions when I’m working,” Meredith said.
