MuggleNet Throwback: Sorcerer’s Stone was released 10 years ago today

WOW! 10 years ago today on November 16, 2001, the world flocked to movie theaters in masses as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone made its film debut.

The magical and enchanting books that J.K. Rowling’s imagination crafted in fictional novels were brought to life as Harry, Ron, and Hermione formed their friendships, fought a troll in a girl’s bathroom, discovered the secrets of the Mirror of Erised, and ultimately stopped Lord Voldemort from returning to wizard form as Harry saved the Sorcerer’s Stone.

By the time the movie left the theaters in 2002, it would reach the second highest grossing film of all time only to be behind Titanic.

On behalf of MuggleNet and all of the fans of the Potter series, thanks must go to the cast and crew for bringing the world of Harry Potter to life.
