“Deathly Hallows – Part 2” among top prize nominees for Art Directors Guild Awards

Last night, the Art Directors Guild (ADG) announced their nominees and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was nominated in the Fantasy Film Category.

Unlike the Oscars, the ADG separates its movie awards into three different categories – Period Film, Fantasy Film, and Contemporary Film; therefore, a larger selection of films can be saluted from both Oscar favorites and Oscar longshots. Typically, the Oscars are selected from the ADG’s Period Film category, which doesn’t bode well for Harry Potter.

Deathly Hallows – Part 2 will be up against Captain America: The First Avenger, The Adventures of Tintin, Prirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Cowboys and Aliens.

The 16th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards will be held on February 4.
