Seven cool things about Ascendio, #1

Ascendio is H.P.E.F’s upcoming eighth and final Harry Potter convention. Taking place at the luxurious Portofino Bay Resort at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL from July 12-15, 2012, Ascendio offers a unique way for fans to celebrate Harry Potter at the heart of the Wizarding World.

Online registration for the convention will close one week from today, on June 25, 2012. That is why this week we are featuring one cool thing about Ascendio each day here on MuggleNet.

Today’s featured post is about the Quill Track, an entire set of programming geared towards fans of Young Adult fiction and composition. Ascendio has an impressive team of YA authors leading workshops, panel discussions and presentations about Harry Potter and fantasy literature, as well as a group of literary agents who can help young and aspiring authors on the way toward getting published. The Quill Track programming, which is included with every registration, features the following, in detail:

– “Book club” readings/signings/discussions with YA authors Libba Bray, Kaza Kingsley, Beth Revis, Veronica Roth, Aimee Carter & Michelle Hodkin, as well as MarkReads and novelist Lev Grossman
– Practical presentations by successful fans-turned-published authors on how to go from fanfic to pro writing, as well as how-to’s on self-publishing e-books
– Workshops on writing (fanfic and original) and critiquing
– The opportunity to give a one page pitch & receive feedback from a real live literary agent! Ascendio will have not one, but THREE literary agents in attendance, and they want to hear about your completed novel!

The credentials of everyone involved in Ascendio’s Quill Track really speak for themselves. If you’re a YA fan, if you love telling stories, if you write fanfic, or if you’re a developing writer who’s interested in sharing your stories with a wider audience, the Quill Track has so much to offer!

MuggleNet is looking very forward to joining hundreds of Harry Potter fans at Ascendio. Individual day passes are available as an alternative to full registration. For more information, visit the Registration page!
