Fan reflects on fandom, five years later

In celebration of the 5 year anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, hpboy13 is back with his latest article: “Fandom Five Years Later.” In it, he discusses what the Harry Potter fandom has been up to since the conclusion of the series, how we as fans have evolved, and what the future may hold for us, with the publication of J.K. Rowling’s adult novel. He writes:

When the last book was published on July 21, 2007, it was truly the end of an era. No one was in doubt of that. The question, however, was what this new era would be like. It was a time full of positive outlooks and excitement. Jo would be giving us new HP information in interviews all the time, and would work on an HP encyclopedia. There were still the last two movies to look forward to (before the DH split was announced). Everything would be wonderful, and we would all continue participating in the HP fandom like always.

Though our journey with Harry, Ron, and Hermione came to its epic finale in 2007, the proceeding years have been just as magical and meaningful as they were when we first met Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, on the fateful day Joanne Rowling’s classic tale began.

How has this fandom treated you the last 5 years? Have you enjoyed the ups and downs, from the film version of Half-Blood Prince to the public opening of Pottermore? Have you explored new outlets to keep your Potter passion alive since watching that train leave in the DH movie, that final time?
