Author J.K. Rowling will host her only known public appearance (to date) here in the United States in promotion of The Casual Vacancy at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center on October 16.

The venue seats roughly 1,100 people and there will be a live webcast for those not able to attend.

Rowling will be interviewed on stage by fellow author Ann Patchett and will take select questions from the audience. She will also sign copies of the book.

Tickets go on sale September 10. Prices range from $44 for phone purchases, $43 for online and $37 at the Jazz at Lincoln Center box office.

The Casual Vacancy will be released on September 27.
