During the 8th Annual Beacon Awards that were held last night at Mansion House in London, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was one of thirty-three individuals to receive an award for philanthropy from the Beacon Fellows. Miss Rowling was honored with a Beacon Award for Targeted Philanthropy.
Rowling was recognized for her incredible work of her foundation the Volant Charitable Trust. According to an article in Civil Society, Rowling stated:
“None of us who are privileged in our daily lives and fortunate enough to have more money than we need should require a pat on the back for the act of giving, but we do need help to spread the word that responsible giving can make a difference; to individuals and communities, locally, nationally and internationally.\”
Congratulations on another outstanding honor Miss Rowling!
