SUNY Geneseo chapter of Dumbledore’s Army wields the weapon of love with community service projects

SUNY Geneseo’s chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance, who call themselves Dumbledore’s Army, was recently profiled in the Geneseo campus publication The Lamaron.

The Geneseo chapter has steadily worked its way up to student group status and is an ever-growing presence on the SUNY campus. Dumbledore’s Army participates in service activities like the HP Alliance’s April campaign Accio Books! and hosts Harry Potter related activities, like a Yule Ball and A Very Potter Musical screenings. Vice president Nicole Theal says of her time in Dumbledore’s Army:

Being a part of this club is so rewarding. It is my favorite club and probably the smallest one I am involved in but I love the group of people involved.

Congratulations to the Geneseo chapter for working to make their community a better place through the power of love and Harry Potter!

Do you have a chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance on your campus? Be sure and use the comments to let us know what kind of work your chapter is doing! Even if there isn’t a chapter at your school, consider taking part in the Accio Books! campaign this month, which provides books for underprivileged or underserved readers around the world.

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
