“CBGB” to be screened at Cannes, new images and posters released

We reported last year that Rupert Grint had been cast in CBGB, a film based on the owner and founder of the New York Club of the same name. In the movie, Rupert will play Cheetah Chrome, the guitarist of the punk band The Dead Boys. Alan Rickman will also star in the film as club owner Hilly Kristal. New posters released for CBGB featuring Rupert and Alan can be viewed here.

It has been announced that the film will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival next month, where it will be available for potential buyers. The movie has already been acquired by The Exchange, which will handle international sales, and Paradigm will handle the US rights. Thanks to IceCreamMan for the tip!

Finally in our round-up of CBGB news, there have been some stills featuring Rupert’s character Cheetah released. The stills can be viewed here, here, and here. A photo of Rupert on the set can be seen here.

We’ll keep you updated as there is more news about domestic releases of CBGB. Are you excited to see Rupert and Alan reunited on the big screen?

I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
