Scholastic has recently announced that 15 public libraries across the United States will win a Harry Potter party pack in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

All librarians have to do to enter is describe in 500 words or less the party they would like to hold to celebrate introducing Harry Potter to a whole new generation of readers. The deadline to apply is July 17, and winners will be announced, fittingly, on July 31 – Harry’s birthday! The prize pack includes:

-100 copies of the new trade paperback edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, with the new cover illustrated by Kazu Kibuishi, to give away at the celebration.

-One new paperback boxed set of all seven Harry Potter books signed by Kibuishi for the library.

-A $100 gift card towards the Harry Potter celebration.

-A Harry Potter event kit with sticker sheets, name tags, bookmarks, activities, and more.

Be sure and tell your local librarians to enter so you have a chance to attend one of these awesome parties! How will you celebrate the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter?

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
