Emma Watson set to star in, executive produce “The Queen of the Tearling”

It was reported today that Emma Watson is linked to a new fantasy franchise project – The Queen of the Tearling.

According to a report that was confirmed by Warner Brothers, the actress is in talks for the development of a film adaptation of the as-yet unreleased book by Erika Johansen, which is due out from Harper Collins in 2014. Emma is also teaming up on the project with another Potter alum, David Heyman, who produced all eight Harry Potter films.

The book’s heroine is 19-year-old Kelesa Glynn, and is part of a seven book series being billed as “a female Game of Thrones.” The story will take place 300 years in the future after a major environmental disaster. Johansen has said that the series was inspired in part by a speech given by Barack Obama in 2007.

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
