Matthew Lewis sponsored event Walk of Smiles is a success

We posted a few weeks ago about Matthew Lewis signing on to be a patron for the charity event Walk of Smiles, put on by The Smile Foundation. The charity raises money for children with terminal or chronic illnesses, and was founded by 13-year-old Bethany Hare. The event, which took place June 1 and was held in conjunction with Rowdon Fun Day, was a success!

Though it had been previously reported that Matthew Lewis would provide signed certificates to Walk of Smiles participants, it turns out that the Harry Potter actor showed up in person to support the event! Yvonne, the mother of Smile Foundation founder Bethany, said of Matthew’s support:

Matthew Lewis was the perfect Patron as usual. Although he was extremely busy with a rehearsal, he came out to send the walkers off and also made a wonderful speech afterwards at Rawdon Fun Day about Bethany’s Smile. He then stayed around signing DVDs and autographs and having photographs taken with people.

It sounds like a wonderful time was had by all! We love it when our favorite Harry Potter stars make real magic in the world. Keep up the good work, Matthew!

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
