Researchers invent “Marauder’s Map” algorithm

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University, Shoou-I Yu, Yi Yang, and Alexander Hauptmann, were inspired by the Marauder’s Map from Harry Potter to create a complicated tracking program. The technical explanation of what the program does is “Localizing and Tracking Multiple Persons-of-Interest by Nonnegative Discretization.” It is designed to be used as surveillance technology.
