Pottermore CEO Charlie Redmayne to return to HarperCollins publishing

Back in 2011, we reported that Charlie Redmayne, executive vice-president and chief digital officer at HarperCollins, would become the CEO of Pottermore. Now, about a year and a half later, Redmayne will be returning to HarperCollins UK as CEO following current HarperCollins CEO Victoria Barnsley’s leave. Barnsley’s decision to leave came after a reconstruction of international business of the company, and Redmayne will take up his new role on August 5. The HarperCollins worldwide CEO, Brian Murray, said:

Charlie’s experience and success operating at the leading edge of publishing makes him uniquely qualified to lead HarperCollins UK in this time of tremendous digital opportunity.

Redmayne commented:

Steering Pottermore through such a ground-breaking time in its development has been a great experience, and I am proud of what we have achieved. We have built up a brilliant n-house team at Pottermore, and I know I am leaving it in the best possible hands. I am excited for its future under new leadership, where it will continue to push the boundaries of digital publishing.

There is no word yet on who will be replacing Redmayne over at Pottermore, but we’ll be sure to report on it as soon as we know anything more.
