Three “Potter” actors receive Emmy nominations

This morning the nominations for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced and three actors from the Harry Potter series received nominations:
  • Dame Maggie Smith was nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama (Television) for her role as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, in the PBS series Downton Abbey.
  • Imelda Staunton was nominated in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as Alma Hitchcock in the HBO film The Girl.
  • Toby Jones (who voiced Dobby in the Potter series) was nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role as Alfred Hitchcock in the HBO film The Girl.

Note: Hollywood Reporter has reported that Toby Jones has been cast in FOX’s new 10-episode drama series Wayward Pines as Dr. Jenkins, a psychiatrist who treats Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), a Secret Service agent who arrives in the idyllic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho to search for two missing federal agents. The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Blake Crouch and will be written by Chad Hodge (of The Playboy Club) and executively produced by M. Night Shyamalan. The cast for the series also includes Melissa Leo and Carla Gugino.

Jones can be seen next in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Captain America: The Winter Soldier which will both be released in 2014.
