J.K. Rowling has “no deadline” for “Fantastic Beasts” script

After the thrilling announcement back in September that J.K. Rowling would be penning a script based on her Harry Potter companion book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, there has been very little further news about the project’s development and projected timeline – and it looks like fans are going to have to wait a while longer yet. In a new interview Warner Bros. president of creative development and worldwide production Greg Silverman revealed that the company has set no deadline for the Fantastic Beasts script.

This is very unusual in Hollywood and is a mark of the respect WB has for Rowling’s busy schedule and her vision for the film. Even though this means that we will have to wait indefinitely to see Fantastic Beasts, it’s great to know that Jo has as much time as she wants or needs in order to craft a story that she will be proud of! What are your guesses as to when the script will be completed?

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
