“Potter” films producer David Heyman confirms he will produce “Fantastic Beasts” adaptation

Heyman declined to comment just a few weeks ago, but now it seems it is indeed official – Heyman is returning to head off another film from the Rowling universe!

He finally opens up about his producing role for the new film while on the red carpet for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, stating that “Jo is at work” on the unfinished script and is tremendously excited about the project. Heyman knows there will be many plot options, considering how well Jo knows the world she created.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly at the Gravity premiere, Heyman gives the eager fans tidbits of information. “She doesn’t have to go back to this world, but something pulled her back. This is not Harry Potter. This is not Harry, Ron, and Hermione. This is a separate story within a universe related to the Potter universe.”

While he let that information slip, he was still very tight-lipped regarding the beasts we may see in the film. All Heyman revealed is that “We will follow Newt on his adventures.”

Heyman produced all eight Harry Potter films and was the obvious choice to take on the Fantastic Beasts film. This will allow the upcoming film to work from an established relationship between Heyman, Rowling, and WB.

What do you think of the news? Are you excited that Heyman is confirmed as producer?
