J.K. Rowling named “Inspiration of the Year” by “Harper’s Bazaar”

The fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar has named J.K. Rowling their Inspiration of the Year, as part of their Women of the Year 2013 issue, thanks to the important work she’s done with her charity, Lumos. Says the magazine of Rowling:

We’ve named JK Rowling our Inspiration of the Year for her work for Lumos, the charity she co-founded 8 years ago to end the unnecessary institutionalisation of children, including those who have grown up in poverty or with disabilities. Since Lumos was set up it has helped take more than 7,000 children out of institutions and prevented the deaths of more than 200 vulnerable children with disabilities who were not receiving proper care. It’s an inspiration to us all. Visit www.wearelumos.org for more information and how to help.

Congratulations, Jo! You’re an inspiration to us all.

The issue featuring Jo will be on newsstands tomorrow.

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
