“Potter” stars receive nominations for SAG Awards

The awards season is just around the corner, and while there aren’t any awards for Harry Potter to worry about (outside of our MuggleNet Oscar Awards), we are proud to follow our favorite stars as they achieve success in other roles.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award Nominations were announced yesterday at the Pacific Design Center by Sasha Alexander and Clark Gregg. Four Potter stars were nominated in five categories:

  • Emma Thompson – Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role as P.L. Travers in Saving Mr. Banks (Walt Disney Pictures)
  • Alan Rickman – Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his role as Ronald Reagan in Lee Daniels‘s The Butler (The Weinstein Company)
  • Dame Maggie Smith – Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, in Downton Abbey (PBS)
  • Dame Maggie Smith – Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her role as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, in Downton Abbey (PBS)
  • Helena Bonham Carter – Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Show or Miniseries for her portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor in Burton and Taylor (BBC America)

Winners will be announced at the Shrine Auditorium on January 18, 2014. Nominees were selected by two randomly selected panels of about 2,000 members of SAG. Sasha Alexander and Clark Gregg announced the SAG nominations at the Pacific Design Center.

Good luck to all of our Potter alumni.
