Warner Bros. Studio Tour previews a year of magical events!

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour website has been updated with a preview of the special events Leavesden will be hosting throughout the year.

They’re kicking things off on March 28 with a weekend celebrating the Tour’s second anniversary, which will feature special guests Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima!

“To celebrate our second anniversary, graphic designers Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima will be on hand at the Studio Tour to demonstrate the creative processes they used to develop the graphic style of the Harry Potter film series. You’ll be able to take a closer look at some of the iconic graphics they created, including issues of the Daily Prophet, the Marauder’s Map, fanciful Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes products and wickedly enchanting books.”

The anniversary will be celebrated from March 28 to March 30!

The next event will be “Feathers and Flight” – which we told you about earlier this month – beginning on April 4 and running through April 27. The event will put the spotlight on the feathered animals that starred in the Potter films.

This April, we’re inviting you to discover how filmmakers brought feathered creatures to life on screen and created the illusion of flight on the sets of the most successful film series of all time. Between 4 [&] 27 April, a selection of owls, ravens, special effects equipment and feathered animatronics will fill the attraction as part of our first ever Feathers and Flight feature.”

  • Pose for a photograph with the owl that played Harry Potter’s letter-delivering companion Hedwig as he sits outside 4 Privet Drive.
  • See the broomsticks of Fred and George Weasley, used during their escape in Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, in Hogwarts'[s] iconic Great Hall as the set will be decorated as it was for owl post delivery scenes. Specially-made broomsticks and letters, which were designed to be light enough for owls to carry, will be on display as well as a breakfast feast of racks of toast, cereal and jugs of juice.”

And more!

Friday, May 23 through Monday, June 2 will be “Wand Week,” a popular event the Studio has hosted before, where visitors will be able to learn wand choreography, check out the dueling stage from Chamber of Secrets, and see special props and wand designs from the films! Later in the summer, from July 18 to September 1, the Tour will host “Bludgers, Board Games and Broomsticks,” which will focus on how the Potter films brought to life the magical games of Harry’s world.

To round out the year, the Studio will have a Dark Arts event from October 17 to November 3, which will focus on all things wicked! The description of this event is the least detailed of those featured, so perhaps Warner Bros. has some surprises up their sleeve for visitors!

“Secrets behind the Dark Arts will be revealed this October half-term here at the Studio Tour. For two weeks you can learn how the Dark Arts were brought to life on screen and the chance to duel with a Death Eater. Something wicked this way comes.”

Finally, on November 14 the ever-popular “Hogwarts at Christmas” will return! The chance to see Hogwarts covered in snow and Christmas decorations in the Great Hall is always a draw for Potter fans.

Are you planning a trip to the Studio Tour this year? What kind of event would you love to attend?

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
