Will the Newest Wizarding World Location Be Beijing? Plus, Diagon Alley Construction Update!

It was announced earlier this week that Universal Studios will open a theme park in Beijing. This location will be the company’s third park in Asia, joining parks in Tokyo and Singapore.

With Universal’s Wizarding World Tokyo rumored to be opening in June 2014, we have to wonder – could Beijing be the next location of the Wizarding World? There has been no official word yet on this, but since Harry Potter has been such a moneymaker for Universal, it doesn’t seem impossible that the company might choose to include a Wizarding World addition at this new location! We’ll keep you updated if we learn any new information.

Meanwhile, construction at the Diagon Alley expansion at the Wizarding World in Orlando is still chugging along! Thanks to a new update by MiceChat, we now know that the main Hogsmeade entrance has been closed down as the train station is remodeled to accommodate the Hogwarts Express. Although this is surely disappointing to current visitors to the park, it’s good news on the construction front, indicating that Universal is right on schedule for a summer opening. Check out some pictures of the entrance closure below:

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
