J.K. Rowling to attend Japan theme park opening

Yesterday, Universal Studios announced that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan will open this July. Today, in a clever bit of sleuthing, SnitchSeeker has revealed that J.K. Rowling committed to attend this grand opening as early as last November.

At the Lumos charity event, which took place on November 9, one of the items auctioned was a trip for four people to visit the park as VIPs and to take an exclusive private tour. In the description of the item, as revealed to SnitchSeeker, it was stated that the July 2014 trip “will coincide with J.K. Rowling’s first visit to the theme park.”

J.K. Rowling attended the theme park grand opening celebrations in June 2010 when the park opened at the Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. We are excited to hear that she will also be at the park in Japan, which is sure to receive her approval. We will continue to inform you as the guest list for this exciting celebration grows. Thanks to SnitchSeeker for the tip!
