The MuggleNet Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations are only days away – are you ready?

by Keith Hawk · June 3, 2014

That’s right! Back by popular demand, the most challenging subject material examinations from the wizarding world are coming back to and will be held in MuggleNet’s Great Hall, open from June 16 to 11:59 p.m. EDT, June 29.

The MuggleNet Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations, or OWLs, encompass 12 exams, one for each course taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry:

  • Potions – 50 questions
  • Charms – 50 questions
  • Transfiguration – 50 questions
  • Care of Magical Creatures – 50 questions
  • Defense Against the Dark Arts – 50 questions
  • History of Magic – 50 questions
  • Ancient Runes – 25 questions
  • Muggle Studies – 25 questions
  • Arithmancy – 25 questions
  • Herbology – 25 questions
  • Divination – 25 questions
  • Astronomy – 25 questions

As many of you already know, these examinations are not easy since they are timed exams (30 minutes for 50-question exams and 20 minutes for 25-question exams). The questions range in difficulty from easy to extremely hard and appear in a random order from a large test bank. The questions not only include material from the seven book Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling as their primary source material but also may include items from outside the book canon. This includes J.K. Rowling’s Daily Prophet papers, Famous Witch and Wizard Trading Cards, Pottermore, Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and more.

In order to pass these exams, it may be necessary to take some refresher classes on the MuggleNet Interactive website, where the professors are currently reviewing material for these exams.

Are you a Hermione Granger, a Ronald Weasley, a Harry Potter, a Fred and George Weasley, or a Marcus Flint type of student? We will find out later this month.
