Confirmed: “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” to film at Leavesden!

Although previous information released about the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy has indicated that it will feature US wizards, the films will be filmed in the UK.

According to Digital Spy, Warner Bros. confirmed that the films will be shot at the same place as the Harry Potter films, Leavesden Studios. This news makes sense, considering the statement made by Josh Berger last month regarding the purchase of the studio by Warner Bros. The trilogy is scheduled for a November 2016 release and will be the screenplay debut for J.K. Rowling.

Let’s hope that the release of this bit of news will be followed by casting information! Fans of the franchise have been discussing whom they think would best fit the role of Magizoologist Newt Scamander all over the web since the announcement was made late last year, including producer David Heyman. You can read more about his thoughts on the casting of Newt here.

    Benedict Cumberbatch or Martin Freeman!

    • Shaun Michael Wills

Both are too old, considering NS is in his mid twenties at the time of the film.

      • Lou

But Benedict Cumberbatch looks so young…

        • Shaun Michael Wills

Not really… I’d like to see a new unknown actor play the part.

    • Sara Malfoy

I can see BC as NS.

  • Winkyxx

    WOOHHOOOOWWW!

  • Sabrina Parseval

    Dev Patel!

  • Niklaus Frogus

Rollo Weeks is the one! Wait and see!

  • Lauren Dolman

I would actually love Benedict Cumberbatch to be cast as Newt (even though he’s older that Newt would have been)!!!!!

Two alternatives would be Colin Morgan or Tom Hughes. They look a little like BC (cheekbones!) but are young enough they could be part of a franchise for all three films.

      • Katelyn

Yes, so who do we need to petition to get Colin Morgan offered the part? :)

    • Sara Malfoy

I can see that, minus the age.

  • Christalyn

    RICHARD AYOADE!!!!!!!!! HE IS PERFECT!

I imagine he is probably a little too old but he would be amazing.

what does this mean to the Studio Tour? Will they have to stop it for filming? I am curious about that Sorry for the english, brazilian here.

The Leavesden site is pretty big, I imagine they could continue to do both without many problems – aside from the odd trespasser!

      • Eduardo Weasley

Thanks, both of you, for clearing that up.

    • Sophie

there is a live studio next door to the studio tour

  • Resonant Curse

I wonder if there will be some Harry Potter cast people on this trilogy.

    • A Nonny Mouse

I think I heard somewhere dumbledore will be in them? that may be wrong though…

  • ferhan pişkin

Dane Dehaan ,Jensen Ackles or Misha Collins!!!

  • declan casey

    Wait, why not New York?

  • Guest

Colin Morgan would be wonderful. He is so versatile, and can change is whole persona with just facial expressions.

  • Aiko Daisuki

Colin Morgan is the best choice for Newt! He is the best actor in the world!

  • Katelyn

Yes! Yes! Colin Morgan!! He’s amazing. :)

  • Sara Malfoy

I don’t really have anyone in mind for Newt, but a lot of people are saying Colin Morgan, so I’ll go with that (honestly, I don’t know who he is, but ok). If I have a better actor, I’ll put it here.

  • Sara Malfoy

I can actually see Benedict Cumberbatch as Newt. I don’t know, maybe he’s too old, but I can see him in that role.
