Video: Domhnall Gleeson explains the differences between filming “Frank” and “Potter” in new interview

In a new interview with Hitfix, Domhnall Gleeson sat down with co-star Michael Fassbender to talk about their upcoming film, Frank. The film, which also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, has been described as a off-beat comedy loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom.

Both actors were asked about the differences between filming a large, big-budget movie and a smaller film. Domhnall is best known for his role as Bill Weasley in the Potter franchise and is currently filming the latest installment in the Star Wars saga; Michael Fassbender played the young Magneto in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Both agreed that the process is very different, although it shouldn’t be.

‘The process should be exactly the same,’ Gleeson explained. He added that however true it may be that there ought to be no difference, ‘Sometimes I find it difficult to remember that.’

As Gleeson said, it does take longer on something like a ‘Star Wars” to set up each shot, and there’s more money involved in each shot, but that ‘shouldn’t change the fact that anything should be allowed to happen once they say “Action,” that it’s ours’ once the cameras roll.

Frank opens in theaters this Friday, August 15!
