Dame Maggie Smith officially joins Order of the Companions of Honour

We posted back in June that Dame Maggie Smith had been chosen by the Queen to join the Order of the Companions of Honour, which recognizes outstanding achievements in the arts, sciences, and politics, and now she has been officially presented with the award by the Queen!

This prestigious order is limited to membership by the sovereign and 65 other members, so it is quite an honor for Smith to be named among their ranks! Other current members include Stephen Hawking, Sir David Attenborough, Sir Ian McKellen, and Dame Judi Dench, among others. You can see a couple of images of Smith receiving her award below:

Congratulations on this remarkable achievement!

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
