Alfonso Cuarón’s “Gravity” to be released in two new versions

The award-winning movie Gravity, directed by Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuarón, is set to be released on Blu-ray in a Diamond Luxe Edition. According to the article about the release, the special edition will have three new bonus features as well as two new ways to watch the movie.

The first version is in Dolby Atmos, a high resolution sound technology invented by Dolby, which, as Cuarón says, makes the music in the movie even more psychologically important to the plot. The other version available is a “Silent Space Version,” which will take away the background orchestrations, at times the only sound in the movie, and allow the viewer to experience what it would sound like in space, complete silence. This version is hoped to hype the suspense while watching.

The Diamond Luxe Edition of Gravity will be out on February 10, 2015, and is expected to blow previous versions out of the water.
