New promotional video released for Michael Gambon’s “Fortitude”

Sir Michael Gambon – who played Professor Dumbledore in the last six Harry Potter films – was recently interviewed for this behind-the-scenes video of his new television series, Fortitude, alongside the rest of the cast and crew.

The 12-part series is about a close-knit Arctic community, living in the town of Fortitude, whose lives are rocked by a dramatic, mysterious murder. This is the first violent crime to ever occur in the quiet town, and it exposes many of the residents’ secrets. Gambon plays Henry Tyson, a wildlife photographer who only has a few weeks left to live.

The series has been filmed in Iceland, to provide the town’s spectacular, snowy backdrop. However, the country also presents complex logistical problems for filming, and snowmobiles and helicopters were needed to transport the cast and crew across the vast, wild landscape. About the scenery, Gambon said,

You’re surrounded by massive, massive blocks of ice. It’s blue inside, different colors.

Fortitude also stars Stanley Tucci (Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Devil Wears Prada), Richard Dormer (Good VibrationsMy Boy Jack), Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark WorldG.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), and Sofie Gråbøl (The KillingAftermath) and will air on Sky Atlantic in January 2015.
