Original post 11/5/2014:

Today the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced that they would be celebrating multiple BAFTA-winner and Order of the British Empire member Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) in a BAFTA A Life in Television event. The program will be filmed at the BAFTA headquarters in London, where Walters will discuss her career and her craft in an hour-long event.

A Life in Television is a new way to celebrate actors who have contributed to British culture and television, with live onstage events showing the talent of the celebrated actor or actress. Walters will be their first honoree.

The announcement of this event follows the news that an hour-long special on Walters will be broadcast on BBC Two this Christmas. Andrew Newman, chair of the BAFTA Television Committee, showed his excitement for Walters to be the first A Life in Television subject:

We’re delighted to be launching a new strand of Television events [with] ‘BAFTA A Life in Television’ and doubly delighted that Julie Walters, one of the UK’s most celebrated performers, has agreed to be our first subject.

They plan to honor someone three times a year, starting in 2015.

Julie Walters has worked as an actress for over 40 years and continues to impress audiences and critics alike with a range of outstanding performances across disciplines, television, film, and stage, as well as various genres, from serious drama to comedy. Over the course of her career she has earned many awards, including six BAFTAs for acting roles, a BAFTA Special Award, a BAFTA Fellowship, a Golden Globe, an Olivier, and two International Emmys, as well as two Oscar nominations.

Tickets can be bought to this special event here on November 7.
