Diagon Alley, “The Silkworm”, and MuggleNet Live!: Expo Patronum – Our 2014 Year in Review

It’s been a huge year for Harry Potter fans – our passion has been invigorated by new details emerging about the Fantastic Beasts film franchise, our thirst for new details has been quenched (well, at least relieved a little bit) by tons of new information released by J.K. Rowling on Pottermore, Universal Studios transported us to the wizarding world with the Diagon Alley expansion, we got to read the second installment of the Cormoran Strike series, The Silkworm – and so, so much more.

We here at MuggleNet have loved being a part of the fan community this year, bringing you all the latest news and helping keep the love for all things Potter alive. In addition to all of the rest of this year’s exciting news, we’ve had our own huge landmark this year with the announcement of our first convention – MuggleNet Live! 2015: Expo Patronum. We’ve had a lot of exciting new experiences already while planning the convention, and we can’t wait to make more fantastic memories in April with as many of you as possible. All of us who work on the site are fans fueled by the same love that keeps you reading, and though some might ask of our passion, seven years after the final book came out – “Even after all this time?” – our answer is, as ever, “Always.”

Relive this year in fandom by heading over to the Year in Review page, where you can read through all of our favorite moments from 2014. We’d love to hear the highlights of your year as well – be sure to let us know in the comments or on social media. A very happy new year to you all!

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
