CONFIRMED: Emma Watson to star in live-action “Beauty and the Beast”!

It has been confirmed today that Emma Watson will be starring in a live-action version of the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast. Emma will play the lead role of Belle. The original animated filmwas released by Disney in 1991 and was later adapted into a Broadway musical.

While little is known at the moment about the new project, Emma posted on her Facebook page earlier today, confirming the role.

Time also revealed that the project will be directed by Bill Condon, who previously directed Breaking Dawn and Dreamgirls. Filming is due to start later this year. We don’t know any more at the moment, but as soon as we do, we’ll be sure to share it with you. Hopefully soon we’ll learn more about the project, as well as more casting news, and later this year, see some set pictures!

This isn’t the first live-action Disney film remake to be announced in recent years, and we’ve got plenty to look forward to before Emma’s Beauty and the Beast hits the screens! This March, Sir Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming live-action Cinderella will be released, followed in 2016 by a live-action version of The Jungle Book, which were both originally Disney animations.

What do you think of the announcement? Is this a role you’re looking forward to seeing Emma in? Let us know in the comments!
