Pottermore Patronus Quiz! It’s happening!

Years ago when Pottermore was announced, fans of Harry Potter were looking forward to a few things that had plagued their dreams and hopes since they cracked open the first book and walked through the Great Hall with Harry – “Which house would I be sorted in to?” – and since they first met Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs – “What would my Patronus be?” – and the time has finally come for the latter! J.K. Rowling revealed on Twitter this morning that she has written the Pottermore Patronus quiz, and it will be available SOON!

Not surprisingly, according to our poll (see right column…) the Patronus quiz is also the thing MuggleNet fans are most anticipating in 2015!

So – who’s excited?!

  • Daniel Rivera

    Can not wait!

  • Nah

Yes, but why? Why do so many people want to know what their patronus is? Or even why do so many speculate what their patronus might be? Further, I wonder if everyone would indeed be able to produce a corporeal patronus. The books state that it is a bit uncommon for people to produce a corporeal patronus, much more when it comes to school children as it is a more advanced form of magic. So to have each and every person on Pottermore be able to produce a corporeal patronus would be a bit absurd.

Nah don’t be such a negative nelly. Just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s impossible. And we all have a patronus inside of us, whether we can conjure it is another thing entirely

  • Firenze

It seems the Patronus often matches the form you take if you become an Animagi. So it’s useful to know your Patronus’form if you don’t want to spend years learning how to transform into an earthworm. ^^

  • Nah

Firenze, could you show your source for this claim? For all I know when one becomes an animagus the individual gets to choose his or her animal form.

  • Firenze

Nah, you don’t chose your Animagus form at all. I remember Ron joking about it. Dunno in which book, though.

  • Firenze

“Animagi can only take on the form of one specific animal. This animal
form is not chosen by the wizard, but determined by their personality
and inner traits. It may also be that the full-bodied Patronus may reveal what a witch or wizard would turn into if they were an Animagus. ” From HarryPotterWiki for Animagus

  • Morgana

Firenze, Hermione tells Harry and Ron in GoF that you don’t get to choose your animagus form. It happens when they are searching for a way to allow Harry to breathe underwater during the second task.

  • Firenze

Well, if Hermione says I’m right, then I can’t be wrong, héhé. ^^

  • BritishKangaroo

I recently got invited to a HP wedding! So excited!

  • Me

Um…this came out in February. It’s September…. So much for “It won’t be too long…”

  • asseater

That was over half a year ago. Is this still a thing or not?

    • 20llarson

Exactly what I was thinking. :/

Honestly this bugs me because she’s been saying this about the new Pottermore as well and I’m pretty much convinced that it’s a myth she’ll actually make the Patronus quiz. She also said she’d being back the Sorting Hat quiz and make a Wand quiz it’s been a while and still there hasn’t been anything… :/

it’s been nearly a year since the original announcement, hopefully that means we’ll get some sort of follow up about the progress of the patronus quiz. We’ve also recently gotten back the sorting hat and wand quizzes (not to mention new content, which we also hadn’t seen since the format change), so logically that means more to follow. As far as I can tell, around the time that the quiz should have come out they started rushing through the updates (books 6 and 7 had far fewer moments and new writing than any of the others), presumably in preparation for a foreseen format change. Fingers crossed that the return of the other quizzes means will eventually get our patronuses (you never know, it could be a good way to celebrate the Anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts – come on May 2nd!)
