The Age of Hufflepuff: As Told by the Sorting Hat

I don’t know about anyone else, but this tweet made me want to check in with the Sorting Hat for a little serenade about this momentous time in our history.

Loyalty, the hidden strength

A good person makes

Sometimes kindness is taken

As easiness to break

Our expectations slant higher

Than they ought

We demand recognition

For those who fought

Problems aren’t ignored,

But we aren’t brash like Gryffindor

We rise when wrong is shutting out right,

In darkness we always see a light

Ravenclaw, where wisdom rules,

Are not the only smarts in this school

For Slytherin ambition climbs

To the top of “to do list” lines

While we work hard for what we want,

We don’t step on others to reach the top

The Age of Hufflepuff simply put,

Is a time of kindness, hard work, and loyalty,

finally gaining a second look

I was 9 years old when I discovered the magic that is “Harry Potter.” I am a proud Hufflepuff and exceedingly good at eating, reading, being sarcastic, and over-thinking small tasks. Since I spent too much time worrying about the correct way to write this bio, this is all I was able to come up with before the deadline.
