Emma Thompson, David Tennant Nominated for Scottish BAFTAs

Nominations for this year’s Scottish BAFTA awards have been announced, and some familiar actors from the Harry Potter series are up for major awards.

Emma Thompson (Professor Sybill Trelawney) is nominated for Film Actress for her role in The Legend of Barney Thomson, a story about an ordinary barber who becomes a serial killer. Thompson plays the title character’s mother. The film leads the pack of nominees with a total of four nods – Film Actress, Film Actor, Film/Television Director, and Feature Film.

Meanwhile, David Tennant (Barty Crouch, Jr.) received a nod in the Film Actor category for What We Did on Our Holiday, a comedy about a family road trip that goes awry when the kids reveal details about their family life to relatives. The movie will also be going up against The Legend of Barney Thomson in the Feature Film category.

Additionally, Peter Mullan (Yaxley) is up for TV Actor for Stonemouth. The drama was adapted from Iain Banks’s best-selling novel about a man who returns to his childhood home to learn the truth about his best friend’s death. The series also received nominations for Television Actress and Television Drama.
