“Star Wars” Beats “Harry Potter” Box-Office Records

There’s no doubt that new film Star Wars: The Force Awakens will do well in theaters this year. Since opening last week, Star Wars has shattered a number of box-office records, including some previously held by the Potter films. In the US, it achieved the largest ever number of Thursday night previews (at $57 million), beating previous record holder Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 by $14 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens now holds the record for the largest ever opening day of $120.5 million, beating Potter again.

Appearing in The Force Awakens is our very own Domhnall Gleeson, who portrayed Bill Weasley in the Potter films. In Star Wars, Gleeson portraysGeneral Hux, a high-ranking general of the First Order.

Congratulations to Star Wars: The Force Awakens for its hugely successful opening weekend!
