    tl;dr
I’m gonna side with the reddit individual because it seems a bit preposterous that a wand would only cost thirty-five pounds. I’m pretty sure that Rowling has stated more than once that she is terrible with numbers.

It’s true, wands are ridiculously underpriced. These are powerful magical tools that allows you to warp reality, and if looked after properly can last you a lifetime. Plus they’re made out of rare materials and are individually handcrafted. Yet they go for as little as 7 Galleons? How on earth does Ollivander make a living? Given the small size of Wizarding Britain’s population and the apparently low replacement rate, he can’t sell much more than a couple of hundred a year.
