The Top Seven “Harry Potter” Quotes for Day to Day Use

When you’ve read the books and watched the films as much as we have, you begin to find yourself throwing out Harry Potter quotes in casual conversation. Here is a list of the top seven quotes to use on a normal day of Muggle life. Not that I’m excessively nerdy or anything, but these are all pulled from personal experience.

Your roommate is dealing with some drama. You reach into your bottomless snack box and pull out a bar of chocolate. “Eat. You’ll feel better.”

Sunday rolls around, and you have nowhere to be and a whole lot of nothing to do. It’s a beautiful thing. “Fine day, Sunday. In my opinion, the best day of the week.”

Your friends are playing a childish game that involves whipping each other repeatedly with hand towels. “Stop, stop, stop! You’re going to take someone’s eye out.”

On a strangely nice day, you are trying to think of something to do. You suddenly decide it’s the perfect day to go to the zoo. Your friend turns to you and screams excitedly, “Wake up, Potter! We’re going to the zoo!”

You’re on your way somewhere, and as you drive, you feel like you’ve forgotten something. You mutter under your breath, “The only problem is, I can’t remember what I’ve forgotten.”

When your supervisor complains that the other departments in your company stick her with all the work because they know she has the right connections to get it done, you shake your head and say, “Fame is a fickle friend.”

Your classmate asks to borrow a pen. They go on to explain how all of their pens went missing. You say very seriously, “I suspect the Nargles are behind it.” You turn your attention back to the lecture without another word.

What are some of your favorite quotes to throw into conversation? Do you favor the wisdom of Dumbledore, or do you prefer some of the brilliantly condescending words uttered by Professor Snape? Let us know in the comments!

Amy Hogan

I was 9 years old when I discovered the magic that is “Harry Potter.” I am a proud Hufflepuff and exceedingly good at eating, reading, being sarcastic, and over-thinking small tasks. Since I spent too much time worrying about the correct way to write this bio, this is all I was able to come up with before the deadline.
