Top Five “Fantastic Beasts” Moments

After a long absence from the wizarding world, it was wonderful to see it again in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The movie is brilliant and there are plenty of highlights, but these are my five favorite moments.

Graves Is Grindelwald

I honestly did not see the twist at the end coming. I suspected that Graves might be working for Grindelwald but not that he was Grindelwald. I have so many questions about both Graves and Grindelwald that need to be answered in the next film following the epic reveal.

The Suitcase

This one object holds so much wonder and magic. The effects used to create the various beasts and the habitats were incredible and really transported me to their world. This combined with the score added to the breathtaking and ethereal moment.

The Jewelry Store

The Niffler is one of my favorite creatures from the film. He was mischievous, heartwarming, adorable, and fun. He was entertaining in the bank, but he was even funnier in the jewelry store. Just seeing him trying to outsmart and escape Newt was priceless.

Erumpent Mating Dance

Eddie Redmayne’s comedic performance throughout the film was amazing, but he was brilliant in this scene. His awkward gestures and ridiculous sounds to get the Erumpent back in his suitcase were hilarious.

Speakeasy

The speakeasy was a wonderful blending of the magical and non-magical worlds. It reminded me of when Harry entered Diagon Alley for the first time. Both times we got a glimpse of an extraordinary environment so different from our own. The atmosphere in the bar was electric, and Jacob’s fascination with everything was so great. I especially loved his interaction with the house-elf and the effects of the gigglewater.
