Universal Orlando Resort: “More to Come with ‘Harry Potter’ Later This Year” – MuggleNet Speculates

Earlier today, we shared with you a sneak peek of the upcoming Christmas festivities debuting later this year in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. Once we settled down from jumping around the house in unadulterated excitement, we watched the announcement video for the 800th time and noticed a little line we hadn’t the first time around.

WHAT COULD THAT MEAN?

Being a very large staff of incredibly giant nerds, we have a thousand ideas swirling around in our heads, most as unlikely as the next – but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fun to consider! Here are some of the more credible – and equally ridiculous – announcement ideas we came up with:

Almost Certainly:

  • The closure of Dragon Challenge in Hogsmeade
    • This has been a very credible rumor for quite some time now, and we are certain that future announcements will at least include this closure.
  • A Celebration of Harry Potter 2018
    • Will the event expand to include Fantastic Beasts? That remains a giant question mark.

Maybe, Sort of Plausible:

  • A Fantastic Beasts announcement (expansion or ride)
    • We do have a feeling that it may be too soon for this, but… maybe. Just maybe.
    • Although it would be super mega awesome if they turned the current New York area into Newt’s New York…
    • Or build Newt’s case as a walk/ride-through adventure.
    • Also, Jacob’s bakery. We need real-life Niffler and Erumpent bread, thank you very much.
    • Don’t forget the Blind Pig. #GiggleWaterFTW
  • Adding of Express Pass and/or Virtual Queues to the Harry Potter rides throughout the park
    • Unlikely, but, man wouldn’t that be nice?

A Nerd Can Dream:

  • Hogwarts hotel on the old Wet N’ Wild property
    • Complete with Peeves blowing raspberries as you walk by and a trick stair
    • THROWBACK THURSDAY: This was a credible rumor for a hot second several years ago!
  • Ministry of Magic expansion, likely into the Fear Factor LIVE theater
    • A theory that is loved by, hoped for, and greatly desired by much of the Harry Potter fandom, started by the wonderful Alan Gilmore several years ago when asked what he would like to see next.

 

We asked Universal really, really, really nicely to give us a teeny tiny little hint as to what was coming up, but I guess they want to keep it a secret for now. So let us know what you think it might be in the comments below!
