Feast Your Eyes on the 20th-Anniversary Editions of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”

Anniversaries are always a special occasion, especially when it comes to Harry Potter. These books, just like us, are not getting any younger. Start saving up those Galleons, because Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is turning 20 later this year, and in celebration, a special 20th-anniversary edition is being released.

Bloomsbury announced the release earlier today, promising that the new editions will be published in time for the book’s 20th anniversary on July 8. As with the previous two books’ special anniversary editions, Prisoner of Azkaban will be released in all four House colors. These new editions will again leave you with the serious life decision of whether you should buy a paperback or a hardback copy. If you just can’t choose, start saving up for both!

These new books will feature a beautiful illustration by Levi Pinfold of Sirius Black’s Animagus with magical iconography featuring some of the themes and moments from the story. The Animagus also serves as the “crest” for the Hogwarts Houses.

The paperback edition will look very similar to the previous two books’ anniversary editions, with the covers and pages displaying their respective House colors.

The hardback edition will be black with the modified House crests displayed in color along with sprayed, striped pages that makes one think of the respective Houses’ scarves.

Fans can also look forward to finding a few surprises inside these new releases, like additional fascinating facts about the Hogwarts Houses as well as more illustrations by Levi Pinfold that will feature some of the characters casting their Patronuses. All this, along with the beautiful new cover designs, is enough to make us wish that July were already on our doorstep.

Mark your calendars and make sure to march over to your nearest bookstore to get a copy, after which you can reread it for what will probably be the hundredth time. Mischief managed.

Press Release

BLOOMSBURY TO PUBLISH 20TH ANNIVERSARY HOUSE EDITIONS OF HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN

Today Bloomsbury announces the House Editions of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Published in time for the 20th anniversary of the book on Monday 8th July, these beautiful House Editions will be a must-have addition to any fan’s bookshelf. Illustrated by Levi Pinfold, the front covers of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will feature the black dog Animagus of Sirius Black as a central image with beautiful iconography and bespoke features woven into the design, drawing on themes and moments from this much-loved story.

There will be complementary hardback and paperback editions of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The hardbacks will be black with the house crest in a house color and striped sprayed edges. The paperbacks will reverse the house color theme and have single-color sprayed edges. Both editions will contain additional fascinating facts about the houses of Hogwarts, and specially commissioned illustrations by Levi Pinfold, showing favorite characters casting their Patronus.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was first published on 8th July 1999. It was the book that began to reveal Harry Potter’s deeper destiny and heralded the start of a phenomenon. Considered the fan-favorite by many, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban introduced the terrifying Dementors to readers and the powerful Patronus Charm that defeated them, as well as four of Hogwarts’ most memorable alumni – Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs!

The House Editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone were published to great acclaim in 2017 and became the backbone of the campaign for the 20th anniversary. They were followed by equally luxurious House Editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2018. Bloomsbury will publish House Editions of the remaining four novels in the Harry Potter series. Dates yet to be decided.

Growing up, I was a massive fan of Harry Potter and my love for the stories grew as I got older. It’s no surprise then that I love writing about all things Potter related. When I’m not writing about all the magic, you’ll find me reading (probably something Harry Potter related), listening to music, or writing some songs.
