Review and Giveaway: Win a Magical Travel Bundle from Pyramid Shop!
All Potterheads love to buy products to express their love of the series. PyramidShop.com is a UK-based company that has a fantastic range of merchandise for all interests. Their designers are known for creating cutting-edge products. Though Pyramid International works with a wide range of brands, including BBC, Disney, and Marvel, what we were most interested in was their large collection of Harry Potter merchandise, which is becoming well known within the Potter community.
When the haul of review products arrived, it was very exciting. Few things can replicate the feeling of receiving your Hogwarts letter, but this came close! It arrived quickly after we ordered it, and the products were wrapped securely, ensuring that none of them were damaged in transit.
Harry Potter Premium A5 Notebook
This bound “leather look” notebook features a stunning foil design with artwork inspired by one of the Hogwarts Houses on the cover. The inner pages are printed with a custom Hogwarts logo, and there is a handy rear storage pocket, a colored ribbon bookmark, and a pen loop. The size of the pages is A5, which is the usual standard for notebooks.
As a proud Ravenclaw, I was given the Ravenclaw-themed notebook. I have owned a few Potter-themed notebooks in the past, being a university student who takes plenty of notes. I can honestly say this is the best design I have encountered for a Harry Potter–themed notebook. The colors look quite magical with the metallic blue against the black background, especially when the light hits it.
The only issue I have with it is that the leather-style cover easily gets smudge marks on it. Mine already has a couple on it, and it has only been with me a couple of days. However, I can understand why they decided to go with this material, as it is very striking from a style perspective.
With a retail price of £9.99, it is good value, especially when compared to some other Harry Potter notebooks, which tend to be on the pricier scale. To see all the wonderful notebooks available, including those of the rest of the Hogwarts Houses, check out the stationery section here.
Harry Potter Metal Travel Mug (Hogwarts Express)
The next item was a metal travel mug with a Hogwarts Express design and a cream-colored exterior. The reusable mug, with a metal body to keep your drink warm or cool and a resealable non-drip lid, is very practical, with its portability making it ideal for today’s hectic, on-the-go lifestyle or a trip on the Hogwarts Express.
Despite its metal interior, it is very lightweight. There are numerous nice touches, such as the soft, felt-like bottom and a flip-up lid rather than the traditional sliding opening that is found on most travel mugs.
Out of all the products, it’s the item that I can see myself using frequently, as it is the most functional and would be useful when commuting to work or school. The price is £10.99, which is really good if you consider how much you would save by taking this with you instead of buying bottled drinks when out and about. You can find the mug for purchase here.
Harry Potter Mug – Ravenclaw Stripe
This smart-looking mug is made from ceramic, making it both dishwasher and microwave safe. The Ravenclaw design doesn’t look as striking as it does on the website because the colors appear duller. However, it’s not often that a product looks exactly the same as on the website.
Despite this, it is great to get Ravenclaw-branded merchandise, as we are often overlooked when compared to the other Houses. Arguably, Ravenclaw is the least represented, since Newt’s popularity has led to a rise in Hufflepuff merchandise. It is functional, and I can imagine myself on a cold evening snuggling up in some blankets and drinking hot chocolate from it.
The price is listed as £7.99, which, while not a rip-off, is not exactly cheap for a mug, particularly if you are buying a couple at the same time. You can purchase your own Ravenclaw stripe mug here!
Harry Potter Espresso Potion Set
My favorite from the haul is the collection of four espresso mugs themed around four different potions: Veritaserum, Amortentia, Felix Felicis, and Polyjuice Potion. For me, these are the most recognizable potions from the series, so I see why they were picked. Each of the mugs is branded as being from the “Hogwarts Apothecary Department.”
While the concept is fun, what really sold me is the design. They are very delicate and very British in style, making me think of English china tea sets in afternoon-tea rooms. I cannot pinpoint why, but it just fills me with joy when I look at them.
My only problem is that, as I am not much of an espresso coffee drinker and they only hold 125 mL (not enough for latte drinkers!), it is hard to think of what I would use them for. However, they are so charming that I do not care. Maybe I will take up Potions classes to make use of them.
This set of four retails for £14.99, and you can purchase them here!
Pyramidshop.com is a company that provides good-quality merchandise for the nerd in all of us, with a wide range of products to suit many tastes. When I am in the mood to unleash my inner Potterhead, I am sure I will give this website a good browse and purchase more of their items.
