‘Skyfall’ surpasses ‘Harry Potter’ finale for UK 7-Day Box Office Record

Just days ago EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that Skyfall, the latest installment of the James Bond franchise, brought in $59.9 million in its opening week in the United Kingdom, trumping Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which originally grossed $57.6 million and clinched the 7-day box office record.

Over the course of the past ten days Skyfall has proven to be a massively popular film overseas. It has already taken in an estimated $287 million.

With all this momentum we’re curious to see how this new Bond film will rank in the United States, where it will be released November 9. It is poised to do well, but will it beat such records as the Harry Potter finale’s opening day total gross of $92.1 million?
