Originally from Berea, Kentucky, Elizabeth Baird Hardy is a senior instructor of English at Western North Carolina's Mayland Community College where she was named the 2006 Outstanding Faculty Member. She is the author of Milton, Spenser, and the Chronicles of Narnia: Literary Sources for the C.S. She delights in using popular texts to engage her students as readers and writers. As a storyteller, she celebrates and preserves the past of Appalachia while bringing the past alive with words. Elizabeth is also very proud to serve as The "Deputy Headmistress" at the popular Hogwarts Professor blog, where she shares insights into the literary, historical, cultural, and spiritual value of the texts that engage readers, including The Narniad, Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games. She enjoys collaborating with her husband, award-winning historian and author Michael C. Hardy; they live on the side of a Blue Ridge mountain with their two remarkable children and an unremarkable cat.
