Pottermore was recently updated to add the ability of reading short excerpts from selected books in the Hogwarts Librabry.

From the @Pottermore twitter: You can now visit the library on Pottermore and read excerpts from selected books bit.ly/L5kOet

By going into Pottermore's Chapter 14 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, "Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback", you are inside the Hogwarts library. However, to see the excerpts for yourself, we are going to let you perform the random clicking throughout the site.

If you do not wish to click through the Pottermore site and want to see the excerpts, then you can highlight the invisible writing below:

  • “A Beginner’s Guide to Transfiguration”: When Transfiguring, it is important to make firm and decisive wand movements. Do not wiggle or twirl your wand unnecessarily, or the Transfiguration will certainly be unsuccessful.
  • “One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi”: Dittany is a powerful healing herb and restorative and may be eaten raw to cure shallow wounds.
  • “Curses and Counter-Curses”: The Tickling Spell: Point your wand directly at your enemy and shout ‘Titillando!’
  • “The Standard Book of Spells (Grade 1)”: Charms differ from Transfiguring Spells in the following manner: a charm adds certain properties to an object or creature, whereas a transfiguring spell will change it into something utterly different.
  • “The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection”: Werewolf bites should be thoroughly and magically cleaned, as the werewolf’s fangs are venomous. However, there is no cure once you have become a werewolf, so try and avoid being bitten at all costs.

Thanks to Hypable for the excerpts!

We had previously reported that Harry Potter director David Yates - who lead the charge for the final four Potter films - was slated to direct the new film from Warner Brothers, Your Voice in My Head. Unfortunately, due to a personal issue involving the health of a family member, he has opted to step down as director for this film.

Your Voice in My Head, which will star Harry Potter actress Emma Watson as the lead character, is based on Emma Forrest's memoir. The film is still planned to proceed with production and chronicles Forrest's [Watson] troublesome and self-harming behavior, as well as her relationship with her psychiatrist. Stanley Tucci is slated to portray the role of Emma's psychiatrist.

An article from Deadline reported the David Yates was forced to drop out of the film after asking to delay filming the project until his family's health issue was resolved. However, the writers and producers did not wish to wait on his return.

The film would have been Yates' first return to directing since taking off on a well-deserved break after completing the final Potter film. The report from Deadline did state, however, that Yates may now take on the director's chair in the film The Reliable Wife. However, this is only rumored at this time.

UPDATE: MuggleNet conducted an Exclusive Interview with the 'Auror's Tale' team: Director Leo Kei Angelos and screenwriter Cassandra Johnstone. You can read the entire interview transcript on our 'Auror's Tale' page right here.

New York City is a battlefield. Dark magic rules the underworld. The NYC Department of Magical Law Enforcement (DMLE) is the only line of defense. Hawthorne is the force’s newest recruit and the dark criminals' latest threat. Plunging into the nightmare that his occupation offers, he makes quick enemies of the most depraved wizard gang in America: the ever violent, ever twisted Hellhounds. AUROR'S TALE chronicles Hawthorne's tempestuous adventures.

Director Leo Kei Angelos teams up with screenwriter Cassandra Johnstone in this ground-breaking digital debut. The two die-hard Potter fans together will bring the underground wizarding world of New York City to life. A longtime dream of Angelos', he and his talented team now have the opportunity to express their love for the Harry Potter series through the art of film.

Red Phoenix Pictures is proud to present this edgy, action-packed web series that's a bold fantasy that Potter fans will love. It's the wizarding world as imagined by fans that grew up with the series, created for fans that grew up with the series. It's the magic of Potter as you have never seen it before: a high-speed, raw, and terrifically twisted ride.

And this summer, it begins.

AUROR'S TALE is a Leo Kei Angelos film, co-written for the web by Angelos and Cassandra Johnstone. It is produced by Angelos' production studio Red Phoenix Pictures as well as Angelo Lopez, Christopher Lopez and Jonathon Rosenthal.

We have some exciting news this morning as MuggleNet has been given an exclusive look at a new fandom project that is being created by Red Phoenix Pictures in New York City, a series of short films called 'Auror's Tale.'.

Note: At this time, we can only share with you this short 10 second teaser trailer, but we will have a full synopsis and longer teaser trailer later today.

MuggleNet will also be conducting an interview with the director Leo Kai Angelos and screenwriter Cassandra Johnstone later today. Over the last few weeks, we held a special fandom CosPlay contest to celebrate what many of the fans, including us here at MuggleNet, consider as 'International Harry Potter Day' on May 2nd, the day the Dark Lord was defeated by The Boy Who Lived.

We received so many excellent characters and it was obvious that many of the fans take their CosPlay very seriously, devoting a lot of time and energy to create one of the iconic symbols of the Harry Potter series.

To begin with, we want to say THANK YOU, to everyone who participated in this event, whether it was through their own entry or simply voting for their favorites. But as with every contest, the time has come to officially announce our Top 3 entries:

Special thanks to The Wand Company, Alivan's Wandmakers, and TT Games for the great prizes. Your support is so important to us.

Congratulations to the winners!
